Calling all New Jersey (and tri-state) air cooled VW enthusiasts. Help support your local VW related shows by attending the 2012 Spring Classic VW Show & Go - April 15, 2012 at Raceway Park, Englishtown Old Bridge Township, New Jersey.
This year we lost 2 local shows; Bug and Buses at Barnegat Bay and Punch Buggy. Don't let Englishtown be next. Once they're gone, they're gone forever.
Air Cooled portion of the show organized by the Central Jersey VW Society. Swap Meet, Car Show, Trophies, Drag Racing and Food available.
If you "no show" there will be NO SHOWS!

You are 100% correct Dave, we need to step up and support our local events. Englishtown is the official "opening day" of the show season in the Northeast. The last couple of events the show has been ok, however the swap seems to be getting bigger and bigger.
So everyone, come on out. The way the weather has been lately, it should be an awesome show.

Looking forward to the start of the season! This will be the first time in a long time that I'll have an aircooled that I can drive to a show, so I'm definitely excited. If anyone wants to caravan down early I'll be leaving the Bound Brook area around 5:15 am (early bird gets the worm in the swap). _________________ www.cjvws.com

The folks who were sponsoring the crafts fair that John was piggybacking on decided to bag the event. The South Jersey Club is looking to start there own "Gathering" type event, hopefully this will help make up for the recent losses.

Yeah, I've been meaning to get around to it. My Avatar is from the first time I took my old bus out on the road for a trip to Manassas back in 2004. Good times, I remember that being the first time I got to see 1/8 mile drag racing up so close.
I am looking forward to seeing the racing this year. There was someone, I can't remember his name but I know he's on TheSamba, who brought out a nice tube chassis car for the first time this past Fall, so maybe we'll get to see some more new racers come out to kick off the new show season.

The Spring show last year was a Water cooled winner. The Fall show was an Air Cooled winner . See what happens this year. I have my Orange turbo car ready and I know of a Blue turbo car ready to go also.

The front engine dragster above belongs to Scott Pocaro. I spoke with him today about the upcoming race. His computer is on the fritz so he asked me to make a few comments about his car. Scott has made a few changes to the car and informed me it will not be quite ready for the event. Im sure Scott will chime in soon with more details. His dad's Beige car is ready to go and has been out a few times already this year .

I don't think either of my type 2s will be ready to make the journey, the single is in Philly with Matt, and the panel is currently reprising it's former life as a shed until I can get the stupid garage built. I have a few air cooleds that are useable though. Hopefully I can get out of work on the 14th. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.

I remember Scott being extremely friendly and entertaining all of my dumb questions like a good sport. Sorry to hear he won't be racing his dragster, I was looking forward to seeing it shoot down the track. _________________ www.cjvws.com

Its easier to put socks on a Rooster over keeping the Pocaro Family away from a dragstrip. Its the first vw event of the season. Wont be long before Scotty has his car out testing somewhere.
