Does anybody know were I can find some center caps for a 1972 super beetle baja edition? I have 2 already. I need 2 more. I prefer finding some in the US. The shipping cost is to much from foreign countries. I have a link to a photo of the two I already have.

Caps like these in this thread?

Your best bet is the classifieds on here or Ebay.
They are quite light though, so international shipping wouldn't be expensive.
If you have very deep pockets do an Ebay 'worldwide' search for 'VW Marathon' and you should find a German seller with a mint set of 4 for a mere £300 .

Yea, I think your right. I've looked all over the internet and I did come across a set in germany ebay for about $400. No telling what that amount would be in the US.
I did place a wanted ad on this site. Bob, a seller from belguim, wanted to sell me 2 for $100 US and around $40 US to ship. Not too bad. I think I will take the offer. Still seems like a lot for 2 hubs.
These are very very rare!!! |

I personally wouldn't pay more than about $20 per cap (I did this once, and it was mint!) , to be honest there are plenty of them around, it's the usual story of whenever you need something you can't find it at a reasonable price!
That German Ebay seller is plain greedy IMHO, there's no way on this planet that 4 mint caps are worth almost £300 ie $450-500, perhaps that is why they have been on Ebay for months at that price .
Who knows, perhaps those caps have shot up in price over the last year or two, but I've bought plenty of them over the years in the price-range of $5-10 each.
VW swapmeets are good places to find them too.

You no what your right. Paying $100 a cap or $50 a cap is ridiculious.
I have a set of eagle alloy caps that fit just fine. May not be the originals but at least I'm not broke. I will wait until the right opportunity presents itself, and go from there.
You can buy yourself some nice rims for the price some of these sellers want for these caps.
By the way, I read on this site about the eagle alloy caps.
I bought them from the Summit, part #ACC310706, for $6.99 a piece.
I hope this helps somebody who has been having the same problem that I have.
Would I like to have a set of the originals, yes, but it's not worth it (to
me) to pay an arm & leg for these caps.
Thanks for shining the light on me, I can't believe I was going to pay
that much!!!!! |
