Great memories for yourself. An Blauchen looks great!
Slow down and smell the roses, congrats on the second place, and prayers for your father. Everything will be alright. |

Thank you so much!!!! Yes, I was just in to see him today, we hope that he will be coming home real soon, maybe within two weeks?
He wanted me to show him my trophy from the show, and he smiled and said he was proud of me (well of the car too) I think in the long haul my Dad's going to think that Blauchen is more than an old beat-up faded bucket of bolts, but you see my Dad has always loved having "new" Cadillac's.
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and prayers.

Haven't posted here for a while, Blauchen is in semi-winter storage until I get the brakes finished, but I still drive him around the neighborhood.....
"Lens Flare and Lip Stick" ~ Channeling her inner Betty Draper
(By KGS Photography/Tom Eitnier © 2014)
I took some time out on (February 9th) to photograph a dear friend of mine Olivia Ann with Blauchen on a short Sunday drive.
This was only a outtake from the shoot, shot in a vintage 35mm slide film style, with some artistic lens flare.
(Leica M8 with a 1954 Nikkor/Nikon H.C. f2/50mm lens)
I'll have even more photos of Blauchen and Olivia soon from this shoot and we'll be going to a few VW shows together this year as well, I think Olivia and Blauchen "bonded" this past weekend, I'm so happy about that........I have a lovely new model to photograph with my great old Beetle in 2014!
Yes, it's getting to be that time to get the cars out of storage and ready for the short late winter/spring to early summer car show season here in Florida, can't wait lets go!
Enjoy!

Tom,
Are you coming to the Lakeland show again this year? My wife and I are going to be in Lakeland for Tigers spring training and are planning on going to the show for a couple hours Saturday morning. It would be great to see your car! _________________ ostkuste |

I've been behind on posting any pix, these were from March at the Lakeland VW Classic..........
Blauchen made 3rd place in the pre 1958 stock class, not bad while up against two fully restored cars.....
........on the way home a stop to the Chinese Restaurant to celebrate.
Back home safe, we had a really nice weekend.
Enjoy!

Here's a few shots from the end of March, the first really nice Sunday afternoon drive I had this year......
I finally repaired my drivers side door panel, right after I got the brake job done.....it's really nice to be able to roll a window up and down again.
I added this German made window ventilator (a "bee catcher") to the car before the Lakeland show......it's more of a conversation piece than a practical working device.
Parked again down by the picnic area at the end of Lake Howard.....
Enjoy!

Thanks Dave!
How's your build going? I saw the terrible work those guys did to your interior, I hope that you win back all your investment.
I have to search for some good "export - leatherette" 1957 L 331 photos I have to send you....
Heads up and all the best on your Horizon Blue "sister-brother" car.

Tom,
Your car is one of my favourite Ovals of all time. Thanks for the picture update.
Thinking back to the late 1990's, I owned a Black '56 Oval that came from Sweden with 25k Kms on the clock from new. I sold it to Japan. I wonder where that car is now?

Thanks so much Rich!
I *know* the feeling of once having a amazing One Owner Oval and then selling it......
Here's my old car "Matilda" , I drove her for over 5 years, but when I had to leave Germany I had to sell her, she went to Munich where a very well to do young German businessman invested over $20k in a pan-off restoration of a L 412 Diamond Green Metallic "European" car (in the 1990's!) .....he later sold her to a collector living near Berlin, she's STILL there now........
I wish I could win the lottery, so I could give him an offer he couldn't refuse.....

Oh no they are the regular/American Sealed Beam headlights and 6 volt system (1957)...........at night I can't see anything and I can't drive faster than 45 MPH because I'm out-running my head lights.
I want a 6 volt halogen conversion kit, maybe install that later on, have to find one first?

That looks like the parking light bulbs to me.
Don't waste your time on 6 volt halogen bulbs. I've tried them, and they're not any brighter, because the problem is the 6 volt system, not the type of bulb. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.
