I have a few issues I'm trying the sort out, first is my drivers side tail light indicates the brake light when mounted to the fender (without pressing the brake).

When I unbolt it and remove it from the fender the running light works. Thoughts?

Get a test light and see which wire is powered up and then trace it back to see what's wrong. You could have a bad brake lamp switch or the wire is hooked to something else that has power.

Alos make sure you have freeplay at your brake pedal that is allowing the pressure to release from the brake system

Wiring is perfect - loom was replaced with original 10 years back. I will replace the brake switch to check that off the list.

Second issue is the headlights do not work. Only one high-beam turns on when high-beam switch is activated. I replaced both bulbs as well. Thoughts?

Buy a test light and see where the power to the headlights stops. Dimmer switch, headlight switch, fuse box, broken wires, corroded wires, corroded terminals. A $12 test light will stop you from replacing good parts.......

High beams have their own fuse box, one fuse for each bulb mounted on the fender well. That would be the first place to look for either a blown fuse or a corroded connection.

So when you have it mounted its always on and when you remove it it works like normal? Sounds like one of the wires is going to ground maybe the socket is bad.
