Just wanted to introduce myself, I have been looking for a bug for about 6 months. I picked this up last week, it is a 59, I am the third owner and it has 39K on the speedo. |
Looks nice. |

| That's a sweet bug you got there. Where did you find it. I'm in Dexter, not too far from Belleville. Not too many of the old ones around here anymore. Do you have any plans to change it up, or are you going to leave it stock? |

Thanks for posting those pics in there the right way! not used to this style of forum.
Plans are to lower it, but nothing crazy. Not messing with the drivline or anything like that. I love music so i am going to put a radio in (dont worry it is going in the glove box!) For now I am just messing with a few things on it that do not work or work well.
the passenger door latch will not keep the door closed all the way.
glove box will not open
missing the latch for the vent window on passenger door
Drive seat slides forward easy but hard back words
Need to replace the seal on the gas cap (or just a new cap all together)
There are some dents i want to see if i can worked back out by a dent guy, the car is clean and original but it has its war wounds!
I bought it off eBay actually, i had been looking there and on here and it was pretty slim pickings as far as anythign decent that was a 58 or 59 on this side of the country. Seems like everything is in Cali or Washington.
Like i said i am just going to lower it a bit and enjoy it for a few years, then eventually i will do a complete restore on it, but i have enought going on this winter with other projects. |

That's one clean looking bug.
Does it have the original motor in there? _________________ Jon65

| As far as I can tell everything is original or a direct OEM replacement. Car is completely stock as far as I can tell, still even has the tool kit with it. |

Nice buy. Looks like a nice solid car. Any idea what the original color was? _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

| It has been repainted but the interior is the same blue as the outside of the car. Same with the trunk too. So i think that should be the original color, i could not see them tearing the car down to the shell to do a color change. |

First of all, congrats! That is one hell of a nice first bug.
To me, the interior looks like L434 Fjord Blue and the exterior a different color.
Always tough to tell with a monitor though. If it was Fjord Blue i think thats a really cool uncommon color specific to 58/59 but I've been wrong before .
Here is what Fjord blue looks like:

| Yea I think you are right on the color. When I do go to repaint it, I am going with the stock color. I did not know that was a rare color for that year, so that is pretty sweet. |
