I remember when Popular Mechanics offered/sold the plans for building these.
I am more interested today than I was 30 years ago in these. _________________ 74 181 Thing

brentphnx,
I'll be headed to your neck of the woods in early June. That Campbug is for sale local to me...
Send me a check and I'll pick it up and deliver it to ya!! Then you can swap it over to a Thing body! lol
Looks better with the Thing front end. The curves of the bug and the boxiness of the camper just don't jive... _________________ FORWARD: forward is only a good thing, when you're facing the right direction!

Good god I can only picture the wife's face if that showed up on my driveway!!! My grandpa's thing, that's one thing... A home built camper??? Yeah.... I bet it'd sell down here though! _________________ Click to view image |

Somehow that just doesn't look safe - short wheelbase with a high center of gravity. _________________ 1971 Ghia Convertible Autostick

The word "fugly" comes to mind; but it doesn't change the fact that I want one...the Thing version of course.
But if I built one, would I have to move the fuel filler to the driver's side? _________________ JohnD

Yes.
Or you can mirror the building plans... _________________ Thing stuff:
