So you need thing lower trailing arms but I could use bug uppers.. So the thing upper balljoint will fit into the bug upper trailing arm then allowing me to use the bug uppers???

I read that the shaft size was bigger though... Can't find the post but I saw it somewhere.. I'm aware of the other changes, still foggy about this though.

Thing eccentrics are needed. I just found that. How many per side? Do they go into the arms too? How does the bigger thing ball joint go into the bug upper trailing arm?

The Thing upper trailing arm and the Beetle upper trailing arm are the same. The Thing BJ has a larger shaft for more strength. The BJ's press into the arms.

An eccentric bushing allows for the adjusting of both Caster and Camber in the suspension. One per side. The upper BJ shaft goes through the eccentric bushing, so, a Thing eccentric bushing has a larger inner hole to accomodate the larger BJ shaft. The eccentric bushing has both a outter taper and a inner taper to help tighten and hold steady, so a Beetle eccentric cannot be just drilled out to fit the Thing BJ.

Some people use a Beetle upper BJ and a Beetle eccentric bushing in a Thing spindle and it works just fine, just not as strong as it could be with a Thing BJ.

You can use beetle upper and lower arms if you wanted. Just a thought if you cant find a set of lowers easily. You just have to press the Thing balljoints into the bug arms in the right orientation, and use the Thing eccentric bushing as mentioned above.
