Here is something which helps, too. Flip the rubber stops on the front beam -> use the uppers in the lower and vice versa. |
I ended up using the small ones for top and bottom. _________________ 69 Fastback Build

I got a few bump stops to play with as I bought a new set of 4 and already have an old set that are in decent shape. also got the rear ones in urethane but no means to attach any
Mark.
actually, just found a pic of my front set up, looks like I have small upper ones! should these be small or big?

got my bump stop bungs from Bug-Box, fast service and a great price! I bought 4 so could do the fronts too but not sure how I'm gonna attach them to the beam! maybe drill and tap an M10 thread? rears should be easy enough to do..
also managed to source a rear armrest so can finish the interior off next week.
still searching for a rear bumper blade but have managed to get the brackets so that's a start. £335 including shipping from Germany is the best price I found so far but considering re-chroming is so expensive it's not that bad. may just treat myself for xmas

interior is finally done, I'm quite happy with it, new rear lap belts fitted and rear side panels along with armrests. the rear seat is a real PITA to get in, I'm sure there's a knack to it that I don't know about!
been battling away with the rear bumper too, just waiting for new stainless fittings so I can complete that part, again nothing was easy, the brackets I bought were all twisted and out of shape and the not so "NOS" bumper needed a bit of work to get right too and in the long run I may get that re-chromed as it's far from perfect but very presentable all the same pics to follow of that when I get the stainless fittings.. _________________ 1968 1600TL Auto build thread, have a look!

yes, bumpers do make it "complete", the car is complete now but not finished! there are a few jobs to do as and when funds allow but with Xmas around the corner I can't really be spending any more on it!
jobs left to do are-
source new quarter light seals,
front bumper to be re-chromed,
front and rear screen rubbers replaced with correct chrome strip one (got these already)
fit pop outs but this is going to be expensive have glass and catches but no frames or seals.
fit rear bump stops and retainers (have these) _________________ 1968 1600TL Auto build thread, have a look!

had a bit of a set back with the deck lid paintwork, for some reason it was covered in micro blisters for some reason I can't explain! so I stripped it back bare bones and started again good thing I was never happy with the trunk as there was several silicone marks in the paintwork there. so far the rest of the car seems unaffected.
looking a bit better already today though, fully skimmed and nice and flat.. did give it several coats of 2pk primer so tomorrow will skim it with stopper . the weather is being kind to me too, unusually warm for this time of year

A very impressive job that you've done with this Fasty! It definitely gives me some inspiration for my 65'. |

everything is starting to fall into place nicely now, the Fasty is now road worthy and runs great, it's took a lot of fiddling around with carbs and timing etc but all worth while to be able to drive it! and no spring is finally here there is some nice weather to enjoy it
still a couple of jobs left to do and I have noticed the odometer does not work but the speedo does! think I'll be looking out for a trip meter speedometer but they are quite rare in the UK.. _________________ 1968 1600TL Auto build thread, have a look!

could be moisture. from my experience micro blisters are normally from moisture or cold weather.
Did some work on my brothers car, same thing happen but the work was a must at the time which was in the middle of winter. 90% humidity and below 10ºC.
imho painting it the biggest PITA, everything stuffs it up just about.
did you use 2 part filler under it? I also found painting over filler too soon can cause this as it still producing CO2 gas from curing. |

all fillers are 2 part aren't they? but yes I did and it's been fine since I repainted it over xmas.. we were lucky at xmas as it was relatively mild for that time of year so I cracked on and got it redone. _________________ 1968 1600TL Auto build thread, have a look!
