|
|
yeh yeh ok . So I was hoping someone could shed some light on the different styles of rear corner roof strengtheners / speaker brackets or whatever they are on a deluxe bus. Some seem to have strengthening ribs in, and some do not. Anyone know when a change took place? Who's got what on their deluxes?
Here's a few for starters:
Oct '54 deluxe (with ribs):
unknown date '53 - '55 deluxe (no ribs):
unknown date '54 - '55 deluxe (no ribs):
Thanks guys! |

see this thread
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=344969
seems update to ribbed version occurred sometime between 1953 and 1954
a guess would be at the end of the deep skylight model
which www.barndoor.dk has as between 20-044995 and 20-049493
somewhere Jan to March 1953 _________________ -StockRocks- |

Thanks guys,
I've seen the flat style ones on later deluxes with no fuseboxes in the dash. I assume that the fusebox detail changed in Dec 53 like the standard pods, so a fair whack later than the change from deep skylights? Any '53 / '54 deluxe owners out there care to shed any light? |

52 deluxe ones are different as well.
They have a larger speaker mount hole and four fixation holes.
No pressings.

Cheers Demian,
A couple more:
20-91270 = June '54 = smooth
20-95904 = 1st Week Sept '54 = smooth
So sometime between the first week of Sept and the second week October they changed to ribbed. |
