I'm 17, Payed 1200$ and brought her home from Maine last night. She runs great, made in 1969. Just took the air filter off for work. Haven't put back bumper or slide cover back on.

Congrats on your new/first whip! Obviously tough to tell from the limited pics but it looks to be reasonably solid (especially considering you found her in Maine). What are your plans?

I'm (anxiously) awaiting my first bus, a '72 westy that shipped from CA last week. I'm in Newbury so, after I get her sorted out, I'll be sure to look for you up and down 1A

Best of luck!

Nice find, and welcome! What exactly are you looking to do with your new bus?

I've read some incredibly insightful things from the wonderful folks on here, so just know that you can trust them. You're in good company :)

(on the time it took me to write this, someone else already mentioned the mandatory fuel line change AND the shroud/exhaust hoses. see what I mean?)

Yeah it has a mix of hardware from 67-73, someone really customized it. The previous owner bought it, drove it 75 miles home, and then put it in her garage starting it every few months. she intended to do something with it but after having it for 3 years just decided to sell it.

The fan shroud fresh air outlets are plugged so there is no concern with it loosing cooling air. So the only need for fresh air hoses is dependant on what type of exhaust is on it which we know nothing about it at this point.

If it has J tubes there is no need whatsoever for the hoses.

If it has heat exchangers then hoses are needed to heat the cabin. And HE's should have a bit of airflow when they are turned off to keep their casings cooler.

We don't even know if his rear tin has the holes for fresh air tubes. If it does then they need to be plugged to keep hot exhaust air from comming up into the engine compartment.
As far as the need for those hoses don't jump to any bogus conclusions.
