It basically Zinc and Phosphate which help protect moving parts. Oil for later model cars have it removed because it can over long periods of time cause the cat converter to go bad.
Not having ZDDP in oil has cause many cam and lifters to go bad in VW engines.

Huge debate over oils...and it continues to this day.

I asked Jim at Archway and he said Valvoline VR-1 20-50. Its all he sells because he says its the best. I haven't had problems with it and seems to work well.

Castrol GTX is also a great oil, IMHO, so just keep an eye on your gauges and fluid levels and you should be fine.

A few things left to do TRANS AXEL,PAN, minor BRAKELINE's and DISK BRAKE conversion. Tried to do some upholstery work, not to bad for a rookie. Weve moved our vacation to September(Colorado). wife got sick(sciatic nerve) Thats ok just means it gunna be real cold.

That should give you enough time to work on your punch list, Bob.

Whether it is cold or not in CO in September depends on where in CO you are going and what that September is like. Its a total crap shoot whether you will roast in the sun or drive in the snow. It will be an adventure regardless, good luck!

I have a Question, is there a stock setting for the steering box? I recently had to remove the box due to a broke bolt, and in order for me to get to the box i moved my tire then bolted everything back and the realized i shouldn't have.Then i tried to just it and now i am lost.

I entered my buggy in a show over the weekend . Out of 48 cars i got in the top 20. Going against porche,emaculent beetles,Bahas and Things. Ill take it for my 1st show.
