I've searched but couldn't find any detailed pics.

Does the body gasket get mounted like the pic below or flipped over? I'm thinking flipped over, but not 100% certain.

And on a side note, my gauges came in the mail today! I'm liking them a lot.

Nice gauge! I'll also need to know that detail on the gasket.

The gasket mounts exactly as it is shown in the picture.

Thanks Jerry. I was thinking if I mounted it like shown, then dirt/water/crap might be able to be collected in it. It sure will mount easier this way.

A little bit of construction adhesive or silicone to hold it to the pan before setting the body on it?

Thanks,
Scott

When you bolt the body down the gasket compresses to nearly flat.

VW used little nails to hold it on - Any decent adhesive/sealer will do a nice job as well, but I would suggest something that has a little flex - liquid nails dries pretty hard. I use a combinaton of sealer and nails.

I never use any adhesive or nails....Punch the bolt holes in the weatherstrip and align the weatherstrip to fit, once the body is on.

3M weatherstrip adhesive. Punch holes in the gasket first, then apply adhesive to both the gasket and pan. Let dry and then stick them together. Works great and doesn't move around.
