So on my swing axle buggy, I want to convert to a pyramid bus trans, and add 3 x 3 arms. I would like to keep the shifter in the tunnel. What do I need? I have a 2" lift, and my body is a very good clone of a Manx, including battery tray and spare tire indent. |

I think there are 3 basic options for keeping the shift rod in the tunnel.
One is to use a piece like this in place of the coupling. The piece comes up out of the tunnel.
The second option is to use 10 degree mounts to mount the transaxle/engine at an upward sloping angle. That's how Joe Sellars (jsturtlebuggy) has his 091 mounted in his Manxter
Third is to buy and have the Gene Berg intermediate-housing installed on the bus (002)transaxle

BTW, you didn't mention what kind/how powerful an engine you are going to use but short of a turbo'd 150hp+ engine, a professionally built/upgraded Type 1 transaxle should reliably handle it and shift better at the same time.

Its not about being able to handle horsepower, but lower gear ratios for steep rocky trails. |
