| I've been trying to decide on aftermarket link pin beams. They will say 8" tower or 10" tower for the size of the shock stroke, but I can't find any true dimensions on how tall that really is being stock is roughly 8" above the top tube. Does anyone have these measurements? And if u put longer arms on doesn't that also change the shock stroke? I have a set of 2-1/4" longer arms and I'm trying to get as much travel as I can running torsions without cutting my Fiberglas and using a 6" wider beam. |

I had some guy measure his 8" tower beams, and the distance between the upper torsion tube and the center of the shock boss was 12" to about 12 1/8" if that is worth anything to you. I asked the same question because I want to fab up my own shock towers on an otherwise stock beam. Most aftermarket arms locate the shock in about the same place, so I don't think you have to worry much about changing arms. Most aftermarket arms have the mount a little closer to the link pins for better damping control. As a result, the stroke will increase a bit. Most people use the rear shocks of a Bus for the 8" towers. They are a great match for the 8" beams. _________________ Berrien 295

I have a set of the 10" shock tower kits which I am planning on using on a beam I am fabbing.
I measured from the top of the 2" diameter hole for the top beam tube to the center of the shock boss: 14-7/8" (Note this is angled back relative to the vertical CL's of the beam tubes).
I also measured from the top of the same tube hole to the highest point of the tower itself and got: 15-7/8"
It is hard to accurately measure how far back they are swept without getting fancy, but I am willing to give it a go if it helps. I rough measured about 4" back from the backside of the beam tubes to the shock boss hole CL. |

| Thanks guys, all that information helps out alot. What my plan is, is to run the tallest shock I could without cutting the front end. My baja is just shy of 16" from top tube to the bottom of the fender. So it looks like either would work, but I also herd that too much travel plays havic on the torsions. |
