If the float were too high you should be able to see fuel dripping from the auxialry vents. Have you confirmed this/not with a mirror?
You will get fuel on the outside of Webers...nature of the beast. So long as the fuel is not excessive. The carb top gaskets wick, throttle shafts have no seals, air bypass screws have no seals, lead inserts are prone to dropping out (if not either tapped/drilled or JB Welded).
If you ever get a chance to see how the carb bowls wick fuel you'll then see how easy it is for fuel to make it's way out. Pour fuel into the bowl and watch it climb up the wall of the carb
How is the vehicle parked when you notice the fuel on the one screw? Any fuel dropplets above the buttefly after shutdown will settle and follow the path of least resistance.

^^^^^^
It is parked level in my garage and at work, pretty close to level. I'll check the things you suggested. It is not bad just damp on 1 and sometimes 2 Idle Air adjustment screws. It (2276) runs real good, I was just concerned about that issue. _________________ Current:74 Ghia Coupe w/ 2276

If its even a slight incline...hardly noticeable that's all it will take for gas to follow a path of least resistance. Have you confirmed your fuel pressure Webers will tolerate no more than 4psi at the most before the needles get pushed off their seats. |

| if the pressure builds after it's off it can push fuel into the bowels of the beast. |
