Just acquired a '80 vanagon 2.0 l engine. Will it work in my '73 914 if I need to replace the engine? _________________ DDC racing

I don't know a lot about vanagon motors. This link may help out some http://www.tunacan.net/t4/tech/index.shtml
The site is actually for people who are converting type-4, 914 and late bus motors into there bugs/early buses, but I figure that if you look closely enough you will find all of the differences between 914 vs Vanagon motors.
If you do the swap make sure to post it here for future reference. _________________ Athens Euroworks

I put a 914 motor in my vanagon with no modification, so I think it should be closely the same the other way around. Cooling tin should fit the motor, the intakes are different though that I know. _________________ -Corey
