Hey guys! New to this forum, I just had a question I was hoping somebody could answer. I plan to buy a late model Ghia in the next few weeks to restore over the summer. I have a decent amount of experience with cars, but I've never restored a car before. I've always loved Ghias, so I'm really looking forward to this project (and yes, I know it will be a ton of work). I'm really hoping it'll be a good learning process as well as getting me a sweet car in the process.

So, on to the question. I haven't found a good car to restore yet, but I did find this one parts car for sale in my area.

http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/2976905233.html

I was wondering if that seemed like a good buy for parts, or if I should even consider getting a parts car before the actual car. Any input would be appreciated!

In general I don't think you will have a problem finding a parts car. You could buy this but it may not have a good part for the car you are planning to buy and restore. I would wait until you have purchased the car you will restore.

x2 wait till you get the one you want to restore, then get the parts ghia closest to your model year. I would draw the line between pre and post 67 ghias.

To answer your question I'd buy that car if the Bumpers are in very good shape. That would pay for the whole car if you had to sell them. Then you have lots of usable parts.
