Parts Obsolete used to make them for 356's, don't know if they do or not anymore

Apparently, Tiger from A-1 makes a very nice sounding Sebring exhaust.

Yes, just had an email from Ray tonight, price on the Sebring exhaust is $475, a really good deal for all the exhaust your getting and he also told me there' a 6 1/2 hp advantage from using it.........so 42hp out of/ from a 36hp stocker. Very Happy

As nice as the $1000 one at Karmann Konnection is, Ray's version at $475 looks and sounds great! I assume the 356/912 version is more because of mark-up or because it is Porsche? $475 seems very reasonable.

Anybody know how long Ray's waiting list is?

How long have you got?? Mine took 2 years...and a whole lot of hassle. When it arrived I couldn't use it so I passed it on to someone who could.

yikes! Sorry to hear that John.

Is it too good to be true? I'd love an affordable exhaust like that.

Well I was told Ray could make them for whatever engine you wanted. I wanted one for a 40hp but after waiting an eternity for it and finding the only practical way of getting one was to get someone to visit him with money in their hand and to arrange your own shipping. At the time of the visit he only had the 36hp version available...but I was told they would be easy to adapt for the 40hp...they aren't. Unless the exhaust has been specifically made for the engine you have forget it. It is also very loud...louder than most will tolerate...a friend in Germany had to add an additional baffle to the exit nozzle for it to pass the TUV noise limits.

This isn't a tirade against Ray, it's just how I found my dealings in getting one of his exhausts. The problem is that he makes an exhaust a lot of people would like but few can get their hands on because he works on many other projects that have priority.

Personally I think if you can't get Ray to answer your email enquiry then he's too busy to supply you in a reasonable time.

Just based on the VW videos in this thread (hard to compare to the porsche), sounds very similar (to me) to a merged header and baffled stinger.

Exhaust note changes a lot with the intake side of things as well. A single carb engine sounds much different then one with dual 48IDAs...

Definitely sounds nice

I just placed a deposit with tiger to build a Sebring exhaust for my 36hp. He said he is currently mocking up the system up right now for another customer too.

Its a stock 36 currently in the car. I am probably going to buy the WW okrasa kit for it along with the cam, and 69 crank possibly. I just need to find someone to send it off to and get it built.
