I picked up this 55 today.New to the beetle scene as this is my first. It is a original as I was told if not please correct anything that needs to be for me.It is crazy solid not a hole anywhere.it has 25xxx miles and still has all stock running gear.put some gas in the carb and it fired right up.needs tires, battery , brakes and a good cleaning. It is even still sporting its original dealer tag on the engine lid.hard to believe it was bought right here in nova scotia. Also could somebody give me a idea of value for insurance purpose? Please give all positive and negative point for the car. Also is it a april 55?

Appears to be a Canadian custom judging by the mix of the standard interior and window trim with the deluxe body trim and bumpers. Looks very nice |

That looks like a total piece of junk, you had better put it in a container to ship it to me so I can dispose of it before it shows up in the abortions thread
JK, stunning find, it needs the LT treatment _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1

Yes the roller pedal is correct for your car, the switch? indicators, or do you mean further down the column? is a contact for the horn circuit _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1

VERY nice!
The roller pedal is takes a little getting used to. You may want to think about getting a hold of Russ and buying one of his cruiser pedals.
The cruiser pedal was a regular flat pedal that simply bolts in using the exsisting pedal assembly bolt. The pedal itself rides on the roller.
It makes it much easier to heel and toe, and is a lot more comfortable for most people.
Russ makes some very high quality reproductions - you won't be disappointed! _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

Based on the body number, yes it's an April of 1955 car. Looks like your car was set for US delivery as it has the Big Bumpers, Front Bullets, and Snowflake tail lights. April was the first month in '55 when they offered this option.

From April 1, 1955 through May 2, 1955, VW offered as a factory accessory a flashing indicator package for Beetles bound for the U.S., Guam, and Canadian markets. Beetles equipped with this option were outfitted with "bullet" style front flashing directional indicators (in place of semaphores), and a larger style rear taillights that controlled the brake, running and directional lights. |

April'55 - May 2, 1955 (chassis # 1-0871206) U.S., Guam, and Canadian market cars, there are two possibilities. Your car could have the red convex plastic lens taillights and semaphores, or it could have the optional flashing turn signal package with the larger glass taillights and "bullet" style front flashing directional indicators. |

Hey Tim, glad to see the car is staying in this area. I went to look at it last year and passed. He was asking alot more than what it was worth. I did see his add on Kijiji last week. Have fun with it.... :) _________________ Terry Gaudet
