Hey Guys

I had been looking for a trailer hitch for my Super Beetle (1303) becasue I want to buy a camping trailer, done with camping in the rain in a tent! I finally found someone with one, but wont see it for a few days, so I was wondering if anyone has any pics of their tow hitch's?

For what it's worth, there is a photo in the Robert Bentley manual in the engine section under the heading "Fuel Injection Muffler" (fig. 5.2) that shows the front mounting of the straps which tie the hitch to the rear transaxle mount. In the upper left corner of the photo, you can also see part of the receiver temporarily held to the rear bumper with a couple of vice grips.
Good luck, Mondshine

Well, sorry about that '73...
The Robert Bentley manual is a useful accessory to every man's throne room.

So the bar closest to the ball, where does that mount? And then the middle long bar, where does that mount?

From left to right, it looks like it attaches to bumper, rear clip, frame horns.

The black bar that's perpendicular to the silver bar the ball is on, attaches to the underside of the bumper.
The next bar that's parallel to the first black bar reaches around and attaches at the bumper mounts under the wings. This is a two piece bar.
This hitch came from VW on a 74 USA/Canada Beetle with the heavy shock absorber bumpers. It may work on ROW cars, I don't know for sure.
