Looking at these and thinking of using them in a 36 build. At this point I've got a set that is almost new, 1500 miles before they were removed.
What is commonly done to prep them for use in a 36? Specifically the top of the piston. The valve reliefs and dome look like they could be milled off but of course then there is all that follows that little job that makes me think twice. Do guys just run them as is?

If I rmember correctly there was some heated discussion a while back reguarding domed pistons and flame travel when used in the 36hp heads. Might be worth a search. I think it came up in a dual plug conversion thread.

Thanks Brad! We were talking about dual plugs too but we've got 11 months to finish this thing so I don't know if it will happen. This one is going to take all of the time we have.

Which ones? 3 or 4 ring, 80mm or 82.5 or big bores?
I run 82.5 356/912 3 ring pistons, blew a hole through the B piston
I left a dome in the top of the 912, cut a relief for the spark plug
You have to watch for valve to piston clearance, I have .060 with .411 lift

I hope you got the decimal point in the wrong place, otherwise...what cam are you running?????
