Most recently installed firewall tarboard on a freshly painted ghia. You know that stuff actually attaches to the firewall. Otherwise it gets sucked up against the fan.... hot hot. I didn't know that spark plug rubber could actually melt.

| My brother bought a really trashed 67 beetle w/ no brakes and I volunteered to fix the brakes for him. Spent half the day but finally got them on right. Told him to put the wheels on and tighten up the lugs while I washed my hands and we'd take it for a test drive. Started heading down the road, felt a wobble just for a second at about 30 mph, looked out the pass window just in time to see the RR tire fly into the air right through the fender. Damn near went through the windshield of my mom's car behind us. Scared the hell out of us and anyone else around us, I'm sure. He got rid of the car a week later. Said he was afraid to drive it. What a puss! |

exactly. if the definition of insanity is "doing the same thing the same way repeatedly, yet expecting better results everytime"... then i must be insane. _________________ OG JHC

I was trying to set the timing on my 72 chevy pickup. I was laying in the engine compartment and I went to twist the distributor when my pinky finger wouched the coil terminal. Felt the jolt go through my hand and exit through my belly resting on the fender. _________________ If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? Removing the drive plate bolts on my automatic square:
My head is directly in between one hand holding the wrench to loosen the bolt and the other hand holding a screwdriver in the teeth of the torque converter to keep the engine from rotating.
Apply full force to wrench. Wrench slips off bolt. Fist holding wrench flies full force into my freakin' eye. Other side of head flies into the other fist holding the screwdriver. I kicked my own a$$, and had a black eye to prove it. _________________ Robb

when I was 13 I was washing my dads 85 dodge 3/4 and when I pulled it into a parking space to turn around I didnt check the distance and hit the bed of my neighbor truck. Thinking that it fell out of gear I put it in nuetral then back in drive and hit the gas wich ripped the bed right off his Toyota. _________________ 1962 VW beetle-The project

| was standing on my knees nailing trim on some cabinets and i reached down to pick up my nail gun when i bumped the trigger. shot an 1 1/2" long nail in my leg just below the kneecap. had to stand up, pull down my pants and pull the nail out with a pair of needle nose pliers. |

wiping away excess fuel from the pump with a large rag while the engine is running! rag got caught in pulley, hand got pulled, middle finger went over generator pulley. man, never thought my finger could swell that big! perhaps bad karma for flippin' the bird!
i used to have those decklid standoffs and utilized a black trash bag to cover the gap when i park the bug. one evening, i forgot to take it off before starting the bug. i heard a loud flapping sound while i was driving, remembered the bag, and stopped immediately, thankfully before the bag got sucked up by the fan.
i engaged the reverse gear, and pulled out, forgetting that a van is parked behind me. couldn't see it because it was night, and i had all my friends stuffed at the back seat. no real damage to both van and bug, thank god.
driving the bug for 5 years without changing the transmission oil (just refills) since buying it. man, when i finally had it changed last month, the service attendant's eyes bulged. can you say M-U-C-K?
one time while i was driving, the bug began to spatter, remembering that it was due for new sparkplugs, i immediately detoured to the nearest auto supply store and bought a coupla plugs (they were overpriced). i took out 2 plugs, reached for it by hand, without waiting for the engine to cool down. wow, blistered thumb for a week... |

Forgot to put in cam plug in a new case before installing the engine and driving it for 100 miles. Not pretty. Don't due that, first motor takes weeks to build, takes longer when you forget that plug and rebuild starts over with new parts a second time. Motivation is utterly lost. I will procrastinate tomorrow. _________________ "Ummm, yeah my car would run a lot better if I put the motor back in" |
