I'm looking for some pics of a 65 Bug's front quarter panels or whatever years share the same design. I want to start doing some hammer and dolly work to mine which are banged up. I figure it's good practice because they're already messed up, but I don't really know what it's suppose to look like. Here are a few pics of mine and what sections I'm referring to. Need left and right pics. Thanks!

I have a 74 and had a similar problem. I hope these photos will help. It will be a little different but it might help.

dunno If this helps, my 63 had similar damage from a front hit and poor repairs.
after some repairs
the other side
depending on what you are going for(driver or show car?)
you may need to remove the wheelwell panels in front of the beam, so you can get the hammer and dollies in there.
I looked at heaps of threads on here and other sites too.
good luck! _________________ If you can't join them, beat them! |

| Thanks guys! I started doing some hammering yesterday and made some progress. 63Ragtop, did you cut out those sections, work em and then weld em back in? Looks a lot better. This is going to be a driver, but want it to be nice. Not a whole bunch of money nice, but nice. I want to do it myself and if I end up being unhappy with the way it turns out after hammering on it then I'll just replace. i really need a good picture for reference to tape next to what I'm working on. It just gets a bit confusing at times. Some wrinkles look like they belong there and 30 seconds later they don't. just need to some some clean lines. Thanks again guys..., |

I know just what you mean, I spent many nights looking at one side, then the other, then back to the first side... this is my first go at anything like bodywork so there's a lot to learn!
in that last pic i posted, there is a crease at the bottom, as the panel goes up over the beam, that should not be there!
and yeah i replaced the front edges with new steel
