PNW - Fall 2013 Swap&Show planning
Folks I've been asked to work a fall-winter show by a freind and sponsor. I'm wondering what everyone thinks. I've talked to Robert Fish and I wanted to talk to Jay ,but I remember those Octoberfest shows , and I loved them.
I've been looking at venues and gauging intrest from trusted freinds. I wanted to come here to see what the public says.
Looking at October date in 2013 at a northern indoor venue with fairgrounds.
Thinking Swap - ShowNShine - other ?
Post your thoughts ? Yes or no ? Somthing you would like to see ?
or hit me up at [email protected] \ [email protected] |

I love the idea, one last chance to get goodies for your VW and go to your garage and build... I miss Octoberfest as well... _________________ Ho'oponopono |

back in the day I used to go to all the Octoberfest shows and miss them. I'd love to see them return. October in the PNW just needs to be a venue with a roof. Hope it happens! _________________ 1967 Sedan (Aug '66 build) L282-Lotus White |

I think it's a good idea. Might want to do it centrally between Seattle Tacoma since that's where most of the population is. _________________ Save a tree eat a beaver |

I miss the Puyallup shows. I know that place is spendy but by how much compared to other venues? Something to consider, or re-consider. _________________ It's not how wide your hatch is, it's what you do with it.

Kelly - I would love to be back there, but they arent very easy to work wth and if you look at what we do with BCC puyallup is 4 times as much.
We have some numbers back Monreo (evergreen fair grounds ) those look good , and its very simailar to puyallup . New large building with about alot surrounding smaller wooden buildings.
Plesae folks post some feedback , we are still loking at this , and without support we wont move forward . We are starting planning for springmeet now as well. |

I would love to , trouble is there arent many affordable indoor large spaces or ones that have cover.
If you know one lets hear it.
Our list is
King county fair grounds - cheap but far out
Monreo - cheap but far north
Pullyup - expensive and center located
thurston county - looking at now \south
Dirtfish - a possable location
Bellevue college - like not to use
Kingdome - 22K per day
expo center - 19k per day |

Puyallup or TCFG seem to be the best options, at least from what I see. Maybe a partnership with Puyallup fair grounds by having some sort of canned food drive/coat drive/<insert drive option here>...we could give them everything that is collected and they in turn could give it to the <insert charity> of choice in their own name. Sell it to them that way and then add "would you rather not have a function and collect nothing for that weekend or host a VW event and earn some rent money"
It's all about salesmanship.
As always, the VW community appreciates all that you do here in WA Mike and Crew. Keep it up! _________________ It's not how wide your hatch is, it's what you do with it.

I will speak for some of us on the East side, location does not matter much, the time of year does due to the mountain pass. The tri-cities show is the first week of October usually, it did not happen this year, but they say it will happen next year. Can not remember the club name to check with them.
I would say the third weekend in October would work. I know some of us will attend if you make it happen....the old Puyallup shows were some of the best. _________________ ---

It would be awesome to get a indoor show & Swap going for this time of year, How about the Old Sandpoint Naval base, The Vintage meet used to be held there, the Northwest VW club also held a show in one of the old airplane hangers. |

both of the old aircraft hangars on the north side are in permanent use by soccer and indoor sports. i think the other smaller hangar 30 (with tennis courts is closed to use due to remodel. our indoor flying club got moved out and into the much smaller gym for this year. |

As far as venue....Indoor is better for me.. Outdoors are okay but lots more work when dealing with weather. Most of the swappers I talk too want indoors/undercover and just want easy access. My input would be that may of the PNW dubbers like it when venues are central... Lots of folks travel from Portland, Eastern and Southern Oregon as well. Just my vision. |
