Clean coal generated electricity.

Coal, nuclear, solar or whatever, at least it's domestic and doesn't go to pay for gold faucets and kilometer-high buildings in the middle east.

Don't want to get too political, but oil is a global commodity, and however much we use here drives up the global price. So yes, we do pay for those mile high buildings in Dubai, even though 25% of our oil comes from Canada. If you add up all the OPEC countries, it's about 35% of our imports.

And clean coal is a nice idea, but that's all it is, an idea. It doesn't actually exist (don't let the slick TV commercials fool you). They were going to build a pilot plant in Illinois but that's been delayed, resurrected, shot down, and delayed again.

It seems the Tesla is now $50,000. I did not know. When it first came out it was a $100,000 car. The Fisker is now $100,000. There are 2 that show up at the mall from time to time. Drool

Tesla first had the Roadster for $100K+, then they went to the Model S for about $50K, after that they want to do something about $30K for us commoners. Their business plan is to get the fast, responsive, high-performing cars out there first for big bucks to pay for the eventual mass market cars that will be built in volume. And I assume they will continue to sell the higher-end ones, but for now the Roadster is off the market.

I know the guy (thru the PriusChat forum) who has the orange Tesla in Spokane, he's happy with it. He's been an electric car enthusiast for some time, and single so apparently he has the money to spend on things like that.

I despise the coal industry, and nuclear isn't far behind. Almost every kind of energy generation has drawbacks.
However, personally I'm still for electric cars, because the difference is that the overall efficiency of energy extraction from coal or nuclear is still much better than your typical gas engine (about 25-30% at best.)

I checked the site and I do not think that anyone has started a thread on Tesla so since I just put money down on one Sunday I thought I would start one.

So what do you guys think of them? They seem really good looking and the numbers appear to be good and my favorite part they have metal bumpers.

Back on topic. Do you have any pictures of what your soon to be new car will look like?

Patrick hasn't logged on since February, 2013 and did not post pictures of his Model S. I've seen two in the OKC area, and they are a sight to behold. It looks like the electric vehicle game is going to be kicked up a notch with these two recent announcements:
Tesla Model E Is Officially Named Tesla Model III
400 miles a charge?: Tesla plans Roadster upgrade

If the Roadster's range is being increased 63%, then it will be interesting to see what the range of the Model 3 will be considering Tesla has filed several battery patents in the last three years.

I see many of them daily on my commute in San Diego. Even the guy down the street from me has one. Beautiful car. I went to the show room at the mall and checked them out. Even though they knew I wasn't buying they were very nice, answered most of my questions and offered me a test drive.

We made a modest investment in Tesla stock at little while back and Tesla has been very very good to us.

I've seen tons of these across NJ, easily 50+ or so I'd guess over the course of the last 2 years.

I hear Tesla is going out on a limb with the naming of their third model. 3. How original.

Better than 90% of car names out there.

Mazda might have an issue with it though.
