Hi all.

It looks like this part is "permanently" in position and will crack when removed but....

Can one remove it w/o damaging it?

Am doing this with engine installed. (need easier access to plenum mount bolt).

Assuming it cracks, what are chances of material falling into clutch housing?

Thanks

Neil.

Never mind. It's out.

FWIW for any other newbs, this part is a press fit to a collar on the block.

It comes out but I would assume that given age of plastic, one would be hard pressed to get it out w/o damaging collar on it. It looks like PO tried to do same.

I tend to snip the wire for it very close to the sender.. and leave it in the case if it doesn't feel like budging..

always wanted to find a practicle use for it. but prefer to not have extraneous wires cluttering & confusing the engine compartment.

For sure.

I'd like to leave it with wire as I like the "original" look (this being a relatively low mileage rig, want to preserve) but all it'll do is confuse the next owner.

That darn thing though is in the way of plenum bracket nut; the only reason I took it out.

Neil.
