Had a young guy stop at my house tonight in his 69. Told him about the GTG's....seemed a little interested. Apparently there are 3-4 guys he knows in town with ACVW's.
Mr.Island, sent you a text about getting together over some parts I have that belong to you...didn't hear back so I'm not sure it went through? |

Got back in town last night but didn't get your message. I've got a used aluminum pulley you can borrow. Keys can be found at TSC. (I had an extra key but gave it to Nate. LOL)

I'm running by small car this afternoon to pick up a pulley I think.

Hey guys I have a buddy who decided to get out of the VW scene for a while and made me a good deal on all his xtra stuff. Some I wanted but the rest I plan to sell. I figured I would give you guys first dibs before I put it on craigslist. Here is a list of some of the stuff I have.
Chrome valve covers
3 aftermarket steering wheels, 2 adapter kits
set of SB bumpers with mounting brackets
STD "Blade style" bumpers with lights for the fronts
2 stock shifters, one with wooden knob, the other knob is missing
EMPI shifter (looks like stock but has the EMPI knob)
2 OG VW jacks
set of used vent window assemblies
VW to Chevy wheel adapter plates
used set of spindles
set of new spindles
1 new LeBra
1 piece window kit - new
new set of front turn signals
used set of chrome window visors
stock VW air filter (oil type_ its huge)
plus misc other stuff, some new, some used
most of this stuff came off early 70's bugs.
I'll cut you guys some good deals.
gimme a call (after 5 on weekdays)

Well, I've got mine in pieces replacing the generator, and cleaning some things up. Islandman has his in even more pieces. Becky is working on swag, with Rob who is playing in the sand box. Jason moved, IIRC.
Took mine to the mall last weekend for the memory lane fall cruise. I didn't show, but did spot a red 68 Ghia for sale, a pink early 70's bug rockin an OG hurst and two piece empi spyders, and that super nice maroon baja.
As I was pulling into the mall I spotted a 74-ish Marina Blau super on Rivieras. I'm thinking it's the one that used to park at BACH with the herrod helper. Then as I was leaving the car was parked near the show.
I'd still like to know who owns the metallic green late standard on post with the interceptor wheels, and I passed a young lady the other day near gate 10 in what appeared to be an early 70's sedan. She was smiling from ear to ear and waved in passing. |

The blue one that used to be at BACH is a buddy of mine. His name is joe, he works with the medical boards section, they moved to an outlying building thats why you don't see him at BACH. He just finished building a 1776 and installed it a few months ago. Says it's pretty quick and niiice on the highway.
I've decided to take mine down to bare metal, I started sanding and found three layers of paint and primer. guess I'll be busy all fall and winter. Do you know anybody who does paint around here? |

depends, what are your plans with the car?
Show car? Daily? Beater?
If it's going to be a daily, Maaco does good work so long as you prep and removed everything you don't want painted.
Beater, DIY. Learning is awesome!
Show car? I see a ton of higher end muscle cars at that body shop on 41A before your hit the kroger area, on the opposite side. |

Definately not a show car. I guess you would say a very nice daily driver. I was thinking about Naacp but I bad them paint a daytona of mi e years ago and they even painted the trim. Shouldn't be a problem now though my car is a shell right now. Sanding three layers of paint and primer is rough. You still working on yours? |

I don't think the naacp will help you much....
Maaco is nice, if you do the major prep work.
Have you looked into the roll on rustoleum method? |

Maaco is what I meant clown.
That will probably be where I take it to. I have the paint off of the body now, I just took the pass side door off today and got into all of the nooks and crannies. All six bolts came out with no issues. I went to the drivers side first five came out fine then the last one wants to be a pain. I hit it with WD-40 a couple of times and quit for the day. I'll hit it again with the 40 for a couple of days then try it again.
Are you selling a 67 on craigslist? |

I do have the 67 on Craigslist...not SERIOUS about selling, but would for the right $$$.
To get that screw out, I'd try some seafoam "deep creep" and an impact driver....might have some luck. _________________ Doc Long

I took the other 5 screws out and rotated the door up and down a few times then it came out first try. Too easy. Know anybody that is good with bondo? I have a little work to be done on mine not too much. |
