That's great Scott, congrats! What did they tell you about the registration? They wouldn't let me get a temporary tag, I had to wait for Harrisburg to mail me my plates and tags. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

Both the State Rep's office and the inspection station/notary said I should be able to get temp plates for it. Rep's office today said AAA will issue the temp plate on the spot. All I need it proof of insurance, which I should have lined up tomorrow.
Classic Collector's quoted me $560/yr with Agreed Value of $30k. Hagerty's quoted me $389/yr with Agreed Value of $25k. The only difference in the policies (other than Agreed Value) is Classic is limited to 3000 miles/yr, while Hagerty's is unlimited mileage. I'm supposed to get a quote tomorrow from Classic for Agreed Value of $25k so I can compare apples to apples. I don't see me going over 3k/yr. If Classic can come close, I'll go through them since they have an adjuster that lives about 1/2 mile from my house. He's personally been to my house to provide the quote.

Wow! This is huge! Great job getting through that Enhanced Inspection. That has been stressing me about getting through that for my own build. I have confidence now that you have blazed the path.

That's great Scott! Mine was a bit different since I was coming in from a different state, not from scratch like yours... By the way, with the 'Agreed Value' insurance, does that mean, if it's totaled, they will always pay the full amount? _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

Yes, that is exactly what it does. See here--> http://www.classiccollectors.com/program/total-protection.html
I don't think I'd try to insure it any other way. I didn't see that the Classic guy left me a VM until 9:00PM tonight, so I plan on calling him back in the morning. Hopefully it will be insured tomorrow.

I gotta switch to a policy like that. Right now I have a normal
'stated value' policy. USAA insurance wanted to limit me to parades and car shows to do an agreed value. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan

Title, insurance, and plates are now in hand! Only thing left is annual inspection. I'm going to try to get an appt tomorrow with the same place that did the enhanced inspection.
Getting close to being 100% legal!

All plans are tentative. We are currently thinking we will trailer to my SIL 's near Fredricksburg, VA on Sat 10/12, drive to OBX on Sunday. I'm bummed because we have to make it a short week. My oldest son has to take the PSAT test on Saturday 10/19, so we'll have to leave back towards home on Thursday afternoon. We'll miss the bonfire with Bruce and the beach ride with the club. We do plan on riding back to the mainland on Weds to make part of the ride with C2C. We still haven't registered, but I hope we can when we get there.
Looking forward to putting faces to all of the screen names here on the Samba. And checking out the everyone's buggies!!

Thanks. It definitely looks better in the sun. The beach run was a blast!
Are you planning on going to Carlisle next spring?

Why's the Samba been doing that lately? I've noticed it with a lot of people. _________________ Manxter #122

This will probably be my favorite picture for a really long time, if not forever. Caught the boys in the moment. We pulled over on the ride back from the group photo shoot at Corolla Beach during MOTB 2013 and I snapped an impromptu shot. First time we've driven topless also. It was a blast!
This is what it's all about.
Thanks,

Scott,
I have Manxter #127. (Dragon Red).
We brought her home about a year ago, and the pan is just about ready. Life got in the way for a while.
I've been following, learning and planning a lot from your build, how excited you must have been to get out onto the beach.
I (and I'm sure others) would love to hear about the good, bad and the ugly, now that you can reminisce about your journey. Things that when finished you thought awesome, things you would have done different, and things that just didn't work out. Anything you could share would be great.
How is the power in the 1600? Trans stock? Did the conduits for the electrical work good? Are the rear seats comfortable for an adult in the back?
I dry fit the roll cage today and have about 1" at each connection to the side bars. After hearing stories of the fiberglass cracking, how many spacers did you use?
I could go on and on, so let us all learn from your advice.
