Sweet!

Hopefully yours will come quicker than mine did. I started the process in Sept and it was delivered in early Feb. Some of the hold up was mine choosing a color after I was told the original color was not do-able. Some was Meyers. And some was Stewart Transportation delivering it across the country over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

It was fun to be close enough to go and pick it up. So much fun on the way home with it on the trailer.

Budget on a Manxter? At least you've had a buggy and work in a shop, so you probably already have it built in you head a thousand times.
I'll probably have 23-25k into mine when done. It's oh wait, I want the speed hut GPS gauges, the flaming river tilt steering column, trans needs be re-built, Wolfsburg west pan halves, put a 2" lift on it, PRP seat or quick Race Trim, how am I going to mount the seat belts, the list keeps growing. I always have to be 3-4 steps ahead of what doing before I paint or put something together. Had to go in reverse a couple of times. Trying to figure mounting of the battery and oil cooler before I mount the body.
Time to start some pictures of your project, and ask lots of questions. There are a lot of tricks and advice that isn't in the manual.

Scott
Big Bear was awesome. What a great bunch of East Coast folks..got to spend time talking with Joe, Dave, Paul, Joe and Kathleen. What an adventure they had.
And I want the prize to drive home also. Sad

David.

It was Tom and Kathleen.
Great people.

David -I wish I could have made BB. Some year I'll get out there. You met a great group of east-coasters. They all played a part in helping get my buggy on the road, whether they know it or not.

For a battery I went with a Dynabatt and their bracket, mounted on the floor under the rear passenger seat. I recently found this link though that says the Dynabatt is a rebranded Hawker, and the Hawker can be purchased cheaper. --http://www.stealth316.com/2-dynabatt.htm#care

jrailer - Get a build thread going I can't wait to see yours coming together!

One thing I have found with my hard top is the interior noise level is very notable higher. It appears to reflect engine noise back to the driver/passenger.

I heard you've been working on another buggy project for the kids.
How about some pictures?

David - I started a build thread, but don't expect updates too often. This one will take some time! Very Happy

Here's the thread --> http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7379371#7379371

Absolutely. We plan on getting there Sunday afternoon and leaving Saturday morning. When will you be there? We're planning on staying at the Travelodge. I need to call tomorrow and make sure there are still rooms.

Where did you get the red lense to make your 3rd brake light at the rear Manx Emblem?

David - Superbrightled.com. I bought these strips. Waterproof, side emitting, no need for a power converter. I went to a local sign shop for the piece of white translucent plastic that I glued in front of them. I boxed then in with a piece of aluminum I already had.
