Haven't seen a thread like this yet, nut thought it would be fun. My personal favorite is the usual "it ran when it was last parked." A few days later my motor seized. Although, the PO of my totally solid and original 72' also mentioned that he "was going to chuck the body and make it into a sand-rail".

Anyone else have a personal favorite?

"This car should be in a museum it's so original".

It was a nice car but the whole interior was redone and was wrong.
Engine was not original either.

"Ain't got no rust in the pans!"

Which was fairly true since 3/4 of the "pans" were actually fiberglass. Laughing

It was owned by a little old lady who only used it to asphyxiate two husbands.

"I just redid the entire brake system. You have to pump them once or twice, but all VW's are like that".

"I just changed the oil about a week ago". Oil was black and stunk.
At least it didn't seem to leak. Laughing

"restored"

Hmmm, I didn't know purple was a paint option. Or velour seats. Chain steering wheel? Leaky brakes? Great restoration!

"It's totally restored but still needs a headliner, paint and interior."

Or in the case of people who think they can weld, "I did the body work myself" as you are looking at their hack jobs.

"It comes with a 'How to keep your Volkswagen Alive' book with some cool pictures"

I also love the ads that have Volkswagon, Voltswagen, Volzwagon, or any other variance there of. That always inspires confidence Wink

It has a brand new rebuilt motor.
Only made a few 68 super beetles.
VW's never have a heater.
It will pull the front wheels up at every red light.
If you take them hoses off of the shroud, it will run cooler.
It's got a Porsche motor in it.
