here is a very handy special tool. it is cheap, and i try to keep several around at all times. it comes in varying lengths and can be used for so many different things. hammer, door stop/holder-opener, lever, cup holder, arm rest, deck lid prop, table leg, pillow, cruise control, etc. its uses are nearly limitless.
I just used one of those to test-drill some holes for proper counter-sinking.
It worked pretty well.
I make sawdust out of those on a regular basis. Their uses are myriad. _________________

for a brake drum puller
I plasma cut the center out of both a wide five rim and a 4 hole rim
and cut 3 slots in each to fit our heavy duty puller
bolted on the stick drum this homemade tool makes it a easy job to get done.
something usually breaks-- like the cylinder piston that holds the shoes or the hold down pins
never had one that didn't come off using them _________________ '57 type 1 Blackberry

Here's a couple more I threw together this week:
DIY Parts Washer -
Only thing I didn't have on hand was a spare spray top... picked up an empty spray bottle from Wally World for $.92.
Rolling Tool Cart -
My most frequently used automotive tools are living on this now. My shop is a 150 year old barn that can't support a vehicle... so I work outside. This will cut down on running back and forth big time! Maggie the bus was thrilled to model for these pics!

Does a CNC machine qualify? Here's a quick flash of how I made it.
I made it so it all breaks down and can be stored in almost as much room as a pop up canopy when they're broken down.

wish I had the $ & brains to add a cnc system to one of my mills, so I could make rocker arms&other engine parts easyer. and one on the mini lathe would be nice too.or even just a few mods so I can grind some cams.

There's a company that makes a kit to modify a harbor freight mill by adding CNC control to it. I forget where I found it. I'll do some looking around & try to come back with a website. There's a lot of that stuff on cnczone.com

Are you using the frame head jig to replace a rusty frame head? Good idea. _________________ Why buy what you can build.
