Hi everyone!
I am new to Air Cooled VW's and I just got myself a 1971 Karmann Ghia, I have been lurking on this forum for quite a while and I have been working on the car as much as possible, I was wondering if there was anybody here that is near Des Moines, IA. I have been trying to meet new people who would be interested in meeting up, talking about their cars, helping me learn a thing or two about these cars, or if you just have ideas of the places in or around Des Moines to go to paint the car or do any work I am not confident I could do myself. I have been waiting around for the car shows to start up so I can go and find people, but honestly even if I went I am a bit of an introvert and I don't think I would be able to talk to people anyway. Hey I was seeing if anyone on here was from the Des Moines, IA area. I would be interested in meeting up and getting to know some of you. I am looking to meet some new people who share a common interest in cars, I don't care if you know a ton about air cooled Volkswagens or if you are a complete beginner. I just want to go have coffee and meet some new people and discuss cars or go to the car shows when they are around. I am also interested in music, books, and just getting to know some new people. I live in Des Moines and have a few Beetles. I try to hit a few VW shows a year like Twin Cities, Omaha, MoKan, or the Bi-State show. Not much going on in Des Moines that I know of though. Check out the 5 Guys VW Club on facebook. There are a few central Iowa VW guys on there.
