Oil filters on the first Porsche engines?

When did Porsche first put the external oil filter on the 2-piece case? ...with the oil hose running into the generator stand under the engine number?

Was this introduced on the Typ 506 / 1300 engine first...and/or was it ever used on the Typ 369 engine as well?

Although they may have been fitted to a few engines, I don't believe the external oil filter was standard until late '53 or '54. Looking through contemporary photos I can find no external oil filters shown except the 1952 LeMans car which had a huge external filter. Engine compartment photos in road tests from Mechanics Illustrated 7/52, R&T 11/52, Auto Sport Review 4/53, Speed Age 5/53, Autosport 6/5/53 and Autocar 11/6/53 all show no oil filter. The Feb '54 Drivers Manual shows drawings both with and without oil filters.
