I picked this up about 3 months ago after my 89 fox died on me. She cost me $3000.00, had 116.000 miles on it but drives like it's new, spunky as hell! The previous owner who has owned it for most of it's life was an older woman(late 50's) that was about 5 feel tall and weighed about 80lbs. LOL!! So the seat isn't even broke in yet LOL!! Any way, I gave myself a $2000.00 budget to give her my own look. I ordered all my stuff and once it arrives the transformation will begin. I can tell you now my budget got blown! LOL!! But not by much.

Well it's been about a month and still didn't get a chance to put the suspension on but the new wheels are on and they match the exterior gray plastic and the gray interior really good, put a stubby antenna on and rebadged her as a BORA just for the hell of it. Hopefully she gets her drop this up coming week. I have my fingers crossed but am not holding my breath LOL!! Hers a crappy pic of how she's looking., can't give you the full on side shot yet.

Well, here she is after $2123.24 and I still want to tint the windows a little not to mention getting the glass replacement headlights, so we're talking another $400.00 give or take. The $2123.24 got me my wheels, tires, H&R sport cup kit, h&r front sway bar, new upper strut mounts and bearings, shorty antenna, BORA badge and clear marker lenses. What do you think?? LOL!!

P.S. I ended up getting some GLI sway bar connecting links and it made a big differance so add another $32.00 to the total.

Had to space the wheels out so add another $150.00 for spacers and longer lug bolts, but she's getting there Wink

Here's some dark(sorry) interior shots, some may think it would be beat since it's 13 years old, but it's pretty nice.

I think she finally settled, it's been about 2 months and some miles after putting the H&R sport cup kit and swaybar on and I use to be able to fit 2 fingers between the fender lip and tire, now It's 1 and a quarter LOL!! and she rides so nice but I am use to driving a 59 lowwered singlecab LOL!! I just did the brakes all around with new myle geomet coated rotors and ceramic pads so that ads another $152.65

Ad another $35.00 to the price, just added a european headlight switch to get rid of those daylight driving lights and make it posible to just run with the marker lights on.

The grand total so far including the cost of the car is $5492.89 but I'm gonna say $5540.00 cause of some things I picked up at the junk yard like a leather steering wheel, a net for the trunk that was missing on the right side and the rear seat headrests.

Thanks man! No she wont be going any lower sorry to say. I drove a lowered 59 singlecab for 10 years and became sick of the bouncy harsh ride. When I picked up the Jetta I knew I wanted to drop it but I still wanted to be able to hit dips in the road at speeds without botteming out and turn the steering wheel without my tires rubbing the fenders. I did some research, talked to a BMW mechanic I know as well as his father who ownes a VW, BMW, AUDI repair shop and looked at as many pix I could find of MK4's lowwered with details of the suspention set-ups they used and decided to go with the H&R Sportcup kit and am very happy with the ride and love the way it sits. If I ever hit the lottory I would probably buy a MK4 wagon and slam that though! lol!! I've just found over the years that its best to have 2 cars if you want one slammed, one for cruising and one for a daily driver.

I call it function AND form LOL!! Low enough to look good and high enough to drive over speedbumbs without worry and a blast to drive on those snowy days.

That sucks and I know what you're saying. After a long drive in my 59 I would be so beat and my back would be killing me. I don't know how old you are but I'm 42 and my body was already beat from BMX, ramp riding and flatland freestylin til I was 21 so It was time to go for some comfort with a little style. I still need to tint the windows a bit and may possibly put a GLI body kit on it. That all depends on cash though LOL!!
