| Once you get them apart drill an 1/8th inch hole in the bottom of each side, this will allow any water to drain. I guess you could also use the hole in conjunction with a grease gun with a needle adapter to just force the adjuster out, never tried this though. |

I just finished this job. All of mine were frozen in their bores and it really looked hopeless.
No amount of pounding or PB blaster would loosen them up. A map gas torch did the job nicely though. The threads are M10 X 1.5 . I chased all the threads with a tap and die, when I was done and it worked perfectly. To protect it into the future I greased up the bore and threads.
Unscrew the bolt with the slotted head if you can. Then screw in a M10 x 1.5 bolt until it bottoms out and it will push out the star if the star is stuck in its bore.

I just did the ones on my bug after many years. No problem. Naturally I greased the hole and the male and female threads again like before. Wipe away any excess grease the can squeeze out. It's the detail attention that gets good results. _________________ The best thing that anyone can do for their Bay is get the Volkswagen of America Official Service Manual published by Robert Bentley.
