What is the reason I see so many engine/deck lids proped open at the top? Is it that they get more cooling or is it just for looks to break up the body lines of the Beetle?
Just curious, I don't love it or hate it but wanted to know the reason behind it. |

Could be both, but I think it lets more air in for better cooling. _________________ shakers73

Usually Cooling but occasionally clearance.
I had to lift mine to clear my turbo and super engines.
My oil temp dropped 15f with them, and that was with a 4 vent engine lid. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

I wish i could adjust mine more. It scrapes the back end every time I close or open it. |

Usually for cooling because their engines are not tuned correctly. _________________ Glenn

or if there is inadequate decklid venting.
a 2 vent engine lid is marginal with a doghouse engine, thats why they went to 4.
You run a doghouse engine with a non vented engine lid you will toast it nicely. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

It's for cooling. I think it looks cool too. _________________ Just one, a 70' bug in progress. |
