Hi guys,
looking for someone with experience taking apart Neon seats.
I picked up a decent pair of Neon seats from salvage yard. The adjuster rails on the on the bootom are rusty and I need to removed them for cleaning and painting and also so I can reupholster.
The adjsuter assembly is also part of the seat back angle adjuster which has a large coiled spring on it. Anyone know how to take this assembly off the seats safely? Seems like even if I have the seat back tilted all the way forward there is still tension on that big spring.

Thanks,
Steve

well I've been searching off and on for a few days and so far haven't seen anything.

Most of what I see on the neon forums is about racing seats.

I've read on this forum where some folks use these neon seats in thier buggies and I thought I check and see if someone else here had run into this and had one of these things apart.

I'll keep searching...

thanks,
Steve

A lot of seat frame/ tracks are integrated nowadays. Some covers are even glued to the foam. What exactly are you trying to do with yours?

Tom,
theres' a couple reasons I want to take these apart.
the frame steel has a lot of surface rust that I want to clean and paint and I was hoping I would be able to take the seats to an upholstery shop and have them convered with marine vinyl.
I did manage to get the tracks off the seats.
I finally decided to just tear em apart and see what I end up with. If I screw em up I only have $25 invested.

Thanks,
Steve

What year are the seats you have? I can get the covers made for you. It will be cheaper than going to a local shop.

Post some photos.
