I just went under my '71 SB to check why I have the shakes when I hit a bump. Thought it might be the steering damper. Turns out I don't have a steering damper. Diagnosis correct anyway.
Getting one is easy, but could someone please tell me the correct hardware I need to mount it?
Thanks _________________ 1971 Super

The site is helpful and I actually went there before posting my distress call.
They discuss the bolts, however they do not indicate size. That's the info I'm looking for. _________________ 1971 Super

Excellent! Thank you.
I just talked to Wolfgang International in Redding, CA. They were able to locate the hardware and gave it to me with the damper order. Can't beat that kind of customer service and support. _________________ 1971 Super

It may just be the stabilizer, but I'd check it all out before replacing. I too thought my front end shakes were caused by the stabilizer. After I changed it, it still had the shimmies. Turned out to be a warped drum. Make sure you haven't thrown a balance weight, check the bushings, etc. If you know of anyone who can spin balance on the car, try that first. The SBs are reknown for the shimmies, and it can come from many different places. The warped drum was caused by an idiot at a tire store with an impact wrench. _________________ Early 1973 Super sedan. 1641 cc (o\_!_/o)

Its really easy to do. Two bolts and shabam! One is easy to get from the bottom, and the other can be changed by removing a panel in the spare tire well. _________________ '71 Super 'Vert

Is there any chance that someone could post a picture or two of these bolts and locations? I found the one from the top, and the one near the coil spring but not the one from underneath... I am attempting to remove the body from the pan and I think I need to disconnect all of this. |

Thought my shimmies were from a bad damper, turned out to be the tie rod ends and control arm bushings. Took it to a local shop and they did a full front end inspection for $85 bucks so I knew exactly what was good and what was bad. They took the cost of the inspection off of the first hours labor. Beats guesswork imo. |
