I am doing all my own body work (first time on any car). I am stumped as to how to go about getting this dent out. Its thick metal that is hard to move. The area gets covered by a bumper so it doesn't need to look pretty. It just has to be the right general shape. Any suggestions?

Heat from a cutting torch w/heating tip on it & Big slip joint pliers/hand sledge etc.

Ok I know I gotta heat it up, but how do I get a grip on it. Should I weld a nail in there to grab onto? I am new to body work so any explicit instructions would be greatly appreciated.

It would be much easier to buy a good used piece and weld it on your car.

That is what I was thinking too, the only problem is I live in an area where buses are rare. To have a good one shipped to me would be prohibitively expensive because this piece is no doubt very heavy and quite large. I wonder if I could get a boneyard out west to just cut off the portion that is damaged and then I can frankenstein it up.
