Didn't see anything answering this maybe I over looked it. I have a 71 standard beetle it has the left side mirror mounted on the door, no mirror on the right, but I like the hinge mounted mirrors on the older beetles. I would like to use those. I was wondering if that would be possible with my 71 doors and hinges

I believe it would be just the matter of removing your old pin that holds the hinge together......measuring the length and diameter.....then searching through places like Wolfsburg West ETC. to find the same size of pin with the threaded mirror attachment top to replace yours.

I have been known to be excessive with hammers.
What is the best/easiest/trick way to get the hinge pins out?
Is there a trick to installing the new mirror?
I have a 64 type 1 bug.

Hinge pins can be very difficult to remove. There is a very real risk of doing some body or paint damage when trying to remove a stubborn pin. I have heard very positive reports about the 'pin remover tool'. Check the classifieds. There were several people renting out the tool for shipping plus $30 & a deposit.
