Just received my latest shipment from CIP1. I ordered some "hard to find" parts on their website on Sunday and they were delivered to my door today (Thursday). Everything was well packaged to prevent damage, as usual.

Excellent supplier Smile

Rolling Eyes A little water under the bridge at this point while responding to some old problems with the fuel pumps...number of gskts to add for the correct pressure etc etc. etc.

The problem as I see it is the MFG who is making a fuel pump to fit with a Alt installed instead of the Gen.

The early Gen fuel pumps needed the LONG rod while the ALT pumps needed the SHORT rod.

Replacement pumps needed the short rods but were used on the long rods thus a broken pump or the short rod was used and the early pump would give a short stroke and low fuel pressure to the carbs bowel.

A bit of confusing for some I'm sure.

When in Business I had that problem with some customeers and would simply exchange rods with them to make things work...saving them a headache.

Has been a while so am not sure if the problem still exists today.

The person receiving the parts for stock is probably NOT acknowledged enough about the VW parts and as a result wrong items aree being shippes out.....partially a MGMT problem.

After 28 yrs in the business and having owned a small VW parts place can understand what is happening in the industry today.

Just received some parts from Steve at Cip1.
I am from Italy, parts were exactly what expected, and the delivery was incredibly fast for an overseas delivery and for a reasonable shipping price!
Thanks again guys.

I used to use CIP1, I always got what I ordered pretty much when they said it would be there. The prices were a little high also, likely to make up for the free shipping promotions. It appears they are shipping most of the stuff out of Canada. The free shipping takes forever likely due to customs, but it is free.

I no longer use them because of the outrageous shipping prices if you need something sooner than 10-14 days. They will absolutely NOT work with you on shipping, even if everything you ordered will fit in a flat rate box. Please see this post if you want more info. I'm not likely to use them again.

Very few companies will use USPS at all, only UPS or Fed Ex - that is normal and not worthy of a complaint.

Maybe so, but they wouldn't even discuss the option of putting all the small parts in the box with the carbs to save me from having to pay over $50 in extra shipping costs. I understand that maybe things ship out from different places and this can't be done etc, but they wouldn't even entertain the idea, just flat out blamed the computer system and had a 'nothing we can do' attitude.

Like I said, I've never had a problem with any of my orders in the past, everything arrived as expected, but this experience was enough of a deciding factor to stop dealing with them and to me, that's worth mentioning, though I agree it's not a complaint.

I sent in an order last April or June (2012). Part of my order was a set of ball joints for a lowered front suspension.

When I finally got around to installing them (about a year later) I found that the lower set was actually too small to be press fit into the control arms. I sent CIP1 a message and they responded that they had a period time around that time that they had a defective shipment of these ball joints.

They asked a few questions, asked me for some info from the bag, and told me they would send another set out with the order I was placing.

Yeah...it was the right thing to do but after a year they certainly didn't have to.

Thank you CIP1!

I am from the UK and have just order $350 worth of parts. Post submitting the order i have now been asked to provide digital photos of my credit card and driving. Whilst i'm all for fraud prevention, i do not understand how sending a photo of my card proves i am the owner of the card. If i had found the card or stolen it i would have it in my posession anyway.

A few emails back and forth and i requested a refund as it transpired my card had actually already been charged, and this was an additional step not detailed anywhere on the CIP website.

At this point Kris Ingaldson entered the fray and was nothing but rude - Shocking customer service.

He is now refusing to issue a refund to my card telling me it is my responsibilty to contact the card company myself. So what started out as a fraud prevention exercise has actually turned out to be CIP fruading my card company

Will never buy from these people again

I had the exact same issue with CIP...fair enough to ask for additional information from a overseas buyer but you can't charge my card FIRST and then withhold my order until you get those details!!! I complained that it shouldn't even be necessary as I had ordered from them in a previous year with the same card and all the same address details and the response was they would let it through this time!! If this is a requirement there should be an email or contact on checkout before charges are made which is how Wolfsburg West does it.

Wolfsburg West is my #1 Choice, only complaint about them is thier T-Shirts are sold out!! Laughing

CIP1 has a great selection of parts, but quality is poor on thier rubber, chrome, carpet etc. I use them for mechanical parts only. I feel one of thier biggest mistakes is dropping the catalog. Im old enought that I like a book in my hand and use Catalogs to guide me.

My choice for vendors is:

1. Wolfsburg West
2. MM
3. Airhead Parts
4.Cip1.

Ordered various engine parts from CIP1 last year, all packages arrived correct, packed well and fast. I recently placed another order with them on 08/01, shipped on 08/02, and my package showed up 08/05, in Australia, 9,000+ miles away. Highly recommended.

Been ordering from CIP for the last 20 years, nothing but praise!
Had one order show up the very next day!
You do have to know who makes the items they carry. For example a Chinese made product is usually inferior to an OEM. You get what you pay for.

I ordered a set of wheels from cip1 2 months ago and had them shipped to my local wheel guy to do the balancing and then mount the tires. He called to tell me 3 of the 4 wheels were out of round and "junk".

I wrote back to cip1 and they said they "never" sold a bad wheel. I hardly believe a wheel manufacturer to be 100% at any level of cost so that statement was a stretch. I called my wheel guy and asked him if he was sure or if their adapter wasn't true. He said just come by and I'll show you.

Here were the results:

Link

Tested the calibration tool then had the wheels tested. 1 was good. Ran true up and down and side to side. The others were as he said, junk.

Here was the first dialogue I had with them, guy named Kris. If you can read it. Their color choice is terrible.

And the second:

Then he received the wheels and said:

Kris@cip1 wrote:
Hello Christian, we have inspected the wheels and these are all within tolerance and these are not bent . I can refund you for three of these wheels but we received one wheel that is not re-sellable because someone packed the lugs inside the box loose and this scratched the wheel.

Let me know if you would like this one wheel back ? Maybe use it as a spare ? I will process the refund for the 3 good wheels by weeks end.

Thank you , Kris

This is a load. I sent the wheels back and packed in the exact same way I received them. I knew this was going to happen. They're trying to recoup some of their shipping cost of their wheels.

Moogs wrote:
Uh that isn't acceptable. These wheels aren't within any type of acceptable tolerance if you consider bent wheels tolerable. 1 was fine, 3 weren't. I expect a full refund or will simply file a complaint with my credit card company. I shipped the wheels as they were received.

Please let me know what you decide to do and I will respond to that.

Kris@cip1 wrote:
We inspected the wheels and they are all in tolerance and NOT out of round or bent at all . One wheel is damaged as the lugs were not packaged properly and scratched the wheel. I will refund 3 wheels for you only .... And I will not charge you for the call tag ( picking up these wheels ). I am sorry but you were given the wrong info on these wheels and the 3 are perfect.

Clearly not in my and my wheel guys' opinion and again I shipped the items back in all the same packaging that they were received.

moogs wrote:
Your definition of what is within spec is unreasonable. I have been dealing with this for 6 weeks and I expected a response like this to recoup some cost, perhaps the cost of return shipping. I WILL NOT accept this as a resolution. You provided junk wheels. I have conclusive video and documentation that contradicts your opinion as well as experts that can back me up on this. I expect a full refund still. If not I will file my prepared dispute form with my CC company as I already spoke with them 2 weeks ago to get prepared. I will also share my video and information with my forum colleagues if this isn't resolved to what is the correct result, full refund.

My wheel place is called Rite-Way Wheel in Walnut Creek. They know their shit and I trust them fully. Hell, they didn't even charge me for any of this and I even tried to pay them. They refused and said once you get a good set of wheels we'll set you up. I've had a bad run of luck with wheels lately too.

So decide for yourself if you want to do business with cip1. I won't. Just sharing my experience.

IMO your video shows nothing. Your hand holding the camera is moving way more than the wheel.
In the video you can see a dial indicator. What is the actual measured runout (radial and axial)?

Placed a order, got a 20% discount, free shipping, order showed up one week later, everything was in the box, I got just what I expected!
Free shipping from CIP1 says 10 to 14 days, so I really got better than expected!

Greetings and Blessings

I was referred to CIP1 by a fellow Samba member Gus a business owner of a VW shop here in Miami.

I placed the order for 4 Rader Style Chrome wheels last week by phone and then by web which is user friendly and easy to navigate. I was met by not only the sales person but Kris himself when I requested some advice on fitment issue i may have.

Kris told me exactly what to expect and what i would need for my '67 application. He even suggested the tire size I should use.

I ordered the wheels online and the shipping was about $87.00+ which was a really good deal .. I am a business owner and I ship daily in the U.S. and overseas so i know what shipping costs.

I was told it would be 7-10 days and i received them in 5 days time ..
Awesome rapport with the staff at CIP1 and thorough tracking of my package via DHL

I received the wheels today and it got here pretty quickly.
The whole process from beginning to end was flawless with good customer service to boot.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

One of the wheels had a small scratch and when I called Customer service they were both friendly , courteous and thorough. They offered me a solution that I felt was complementing to the overall experience I have had with Kris and the CIP1 staff.

Even in the line of work that I am in Customer Service is of the utmost importance.

I represent one of the largest and best Powder-coating establishments here in South Florida by the name of Bullseye Powdercoating and will be sure to recommend my clients and friends to CIP1.

Many of the restored and sharp looking VW's and antiques have had their sandblasting and powder-coating done with us so that is evident that customer care is important and that is what I have found with CIP1.

Shalom,

V. Zach'Riah M.

I bought a pair of chrome exhaust tips with baffles and angled ends from cip1 and the baffle fell out of one of them and disappeared on the highway. They were only willing to replace them if and when I place another order with them, or they will sell me a new set and spot me the shipping. My VW is finished and I won't be placing any orders with them. I would have thought they would have replaced a defective product. Too much to hope for.

the ones they sell are the cheap Chinese ones any replacement they send you will be just as bad as the one you have already

yes it sucks that they will not replace it but honestly they are cheap and you can get a better replacement just about anywhere Wink

Hi Evan,

I purchased this item a while back but it won’t fit my ’66.

http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC-113-898-205-D

My mechanic told me to get one that has this type of mechanism:

I also couldn't fit the gas tank I purchased on my '66.. I've emailed Evan but haven't gotten any replies.

Hope you guy scan help.

Thanks!

I've ordered through CIP 1 quite a few times. Website has improved but has always been easy to navigate.
Shipping has always been fairly reasonable, timely and accurate..

I had a question regarding comparison of the 5.5 and 4.5 BRMs due to a notation...

"SPECIAL NOTE:THE 15X4.5 ACC-C10-6624 BRM REPLICA WHEEL DOES NOT EXACTLY MATCH THE ACC-C10-6625.
THE OUTSIDE LIP OF THE ACC-C10-6624 IS NOT AS SHINY AS THE ACC-C10-6625."

I got 2 representitive answers from customer service... 1 promising but not complete and 1 pass the buck no real answers and no one taking the next steps.. ..

In the end made a leap of hope, ordered and answered my own quesation.

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7190162

Is what it is I guess... Ill continue to shop CIP1 and compare to others.

Edit: follow up.. recontacted by CIP1 Customer Service (Kris) after the fact to clear up a few things..

No harm done....

I have shopped at cip1 many times in the past and never had issues with them. Only complaint is shipping costs and must spend $25 or more to get the parts needed. So now I rarely buy from them because i prefer wolfsburgwest.
