I have a 70 square that ran home fine than the next day didn't want to start we tracked it down to the thing on the side of the dizzy (with the green wire sorry can't remember what it's called) so took for ever finding that but finally got it put it together and still couldn't get it to start. we got it to push start and it ran terrible missing popping and not idling. Any thoughts?

you need to set the timing after you took the distributor out.

Green wire thingy = condensor. Smile

If you removed the distributor by undoing the 13mm mounting bolt and removing the entire thing, bracket and all, the timing should be unchanged but I always check it anyway...

Where and what did you lubricate?

okay so finally got some time to mess around with it spread some starting fluid in her and got nothing but back fire so I took the dizzy back off and turned the roater 180 and spread some more fluid and got her to start and run for a very short while. then went back to check and it smelled hella of gass over the engine could it be flooding itself out or a leaking line or something

If your spark plugs are wet now, then fuel probably isn't the problem but you can spray some gas in the throttle body with a turkey baster & try it. Can't hurt anything except get your spark plugs wet.

Trigger points in the bottom of the distributor.

Sounds like you need to replace all of your fuel lines

No, they're on the bottom side. You have to remove the distributor to access them. More than likely though, you broke off 1 of the 3 wires that plug into them, when you had the distributor out.

I checked that connection the three prongs going to my dizzy they seem nice and tight but there is a four prong that isn't connected to anything and I can't find where that might go. There is also one single white or maybe brown wire on the opposite side of the in take not hooked to anything. If I take the power off of the injectors and turn the engine would a volt meter catch a charger? If so how much of one should it pick up

The Type 3 fuel pump should shut off after a couple seconds when it reaches 30lbs pressure if the car doesn't start.
