I have a 70 square that ran home fine than the next day didn't want to start we tracked it down to the thing on the side of the dizzy (with the green wire sorry can't remember what it's called) so took for ever finding that but finally got it put it together and still couldn't get it to start. we got it to push start and it ran terrible missing popping and not idling. Any thoughts? _________________ 78' Type 2 "little buggie"

yes we have checked the point gap the cap and roter the all seem to be fine we even check the plugs we are getting spark through them. when we had the dizzy out though we spread some lubricant because the vacuum advance was sticking due to rust _________________ 78' Type 2 "little buggie"

Green wire thingy = condensor.
If you removed the distributor by undoing the 13mm mounting bolt and removing the entire thing, bracket and all, the timing should be unchanged but I always check it anyway... _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

okay so finally got some time to mess around with it spread some starting fluid in her and got nothing but back fire so I took the dizzy back off and turned the roater 180 and spread some more fluid and got her to start and run for a very short while. then went back to check and it smelled hella of gass over the engine could it be flooding itself out or a leaking line or something _________________ 78' Type 2 "little buggie"

If your spark plugs are wet now, then fuel probably isn't the problem but you can spray some gas in the throttle body with a turkey baster & try it. Can't hurt anything except get your spark plugs wet. _________________ http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/mr_bojangles500/

Trigger points in the bottom of the distributor.
Sounds like you need to replace all of your fuel lines _________________

I checked that connection the three prongs going to my dizzy they seem nice and tight but there is a four prong that isn't connected to anything and I can't find where that might go. There is also one single white or maybe brown wire on the opposite side of the in take not hooked to anything. If I take the power off of the injectors and turn the engine would a volt meter catch a charger? If so how much of one should it pick up _________________ 78' Type 2 "little buggie"

The Type 3 fuel pump should shut off after a couple seconds when it reaches 30lbs pressure if the car doesn't start. _________________ http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/mr_bojangles500/
