|
|
| First I thought I wanted a Manx style car, but have decided I want a rail. Living in OR I have places to go play in the sand. I have been looking at all kinds mid engine, rear engine, VW front ends and A-arm front ends. All I want is somthing with enough travel to have fun in not get kicked around in. I am wondering some of the pros and cons to diffrent styles, and am serching for prices for the diffrent styles.. I looked at my local VW parts store and the have some frames I can weld and know someone who dose it for a living that could weld up a frame, but how much more money do you need to throw at it to get it going. I have a good amount of VW knowledge but am still learning. Thanks for the Help CW |

where abouts in Oregon? Im out in Gresham. i would suggest going out to the dunes one day and talking to the guys out there. Some of them could be very helpful. Also One other idea is to find a rail someone is selling. it is alot cheaper. But make sure you sit in it first. Rails are like shoes, what fits one might not fit others.

| I live in Beverton have for about 2 years. I would be interested in one used but have not found a good resource in OR. If anyone knows of someone selling one let me know. And what are the most popular dunes around here. |

I agree with Ratt. For someone getting into off roading, I would suggest buying a used rolling frame or a complete car, and go from there. Really, your budget will be the deciding factor.
Buying a new frame seems inexpensive until you add up the parts to make it a runner. Go check www.dune-buggy.com , look around in the classifieds (buggytrader), read the forums (buggytalk) to get an idea of what you want and what used buggies go for.

| Discount Import Parts by Washington Square mall. It's a good shop but not a very helpful staff, when I go in I feel like I am bothering them. They do have the parts though, and it's close. Chris |

Try Discount out in Milwaukie. They are Very helpful with me and My baja. This is my First bug and have no clue what half the parts I need are. And they allways have some good advice. Same store, Better Staff.
