Snapped this whilst on a fishing trip up north in 1990.

up...north. You mean here, right? That looks like a Falcon XA-XC pano, a datsun 120Y and of course VWs.

As for the green one, where was that photo taken? RHD and mounted police could easily be Aus too. Yes we still have mounted police. They patrol cities and large towns usually.
If it is an aussie shot, is that really a Westfalia? If so, wow! that's about as uncommon as they get.

edit: whoops! Yellow lines, wrong side of the road and foreign architecture on the green bay pic. My mistake.
edit again: wrong number of arms too! Ahhh it's a 4 armed mutant! or the driver is on the left.

Of course it's the Top End. You shouldn't doubt yourself.

I was living in Alice Springs, NT. Me and my mates would try to get away and get some fishing in whenever we could make the time. Snapped the roo bar photo as I passed through Darwin on the way to fish Bathurst Island.

That was one fab fishing trip. The crocs were giving us the eye and the barramundi were jumping in the boat! Toss me another VB. We were laughing mate!

Fusername makes a beautiful setup. He is crazy busy with real life (2 jobs I think) and if I remember correctly his bender is broken at the moment. The key is patience, he does get back to you, just remember he has a life too.

Fusername does make them. I dont know if he has any ready to go, but like was mentioned I do recall hearing his bender was OOS.
His piece is VERY nice. You can see my pictures on the other thread.
Have patience, he'll get back to you.

That must have been a very common style of bar in Aus. Our Kombi came from Victoria, similar front end:

Also had an angle adjustable stone guard, which is very distracting to drive with!

Rear view of 'roo bars and still has the stock bumper. (Surely they can't be 'roo bars at the back?? Maybe for reversing, or very speedy kangaroos?)

You're sharp!
Very few 'roos, but plenty of red deer, which are tasty but make a mess if hit at speed, and off the beaten track there are loads of stupid, suicidal sheep, likewise!
I suggested taking off the bars, but the front one makes a great tyre mount, and my better half likes the Australian look (and the way it makes parking safer. Other people's parking, that is!)

Those are not Roo Bars. They are Hurst Bumper guards and in my humble opinion, look better on split buses! Very Happy

Thanks for trying though. Very Happy I think most Roo Bars are sold over seas which would be highly expensive to ship here.
