|
|
| So, I have everything disconnected and unbolted as far as I can tell (ie. thermostat, the 2 bolts on either side, the bolt for the heat vent toward the front. and taken off the removable half of the dog house). The right side of the shroud and the generator move freely. The left side moves a little bit. About an eighth of an inch or so. What might be causing it to hang up like that? Can't find anything bolt wise beside the flap screws that would be keeping it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| I removed the throttle cable tube, but the cable is still running through the shroud. That shouldn't keep it from being removed should it? |

| is it a 71 or newer style with offset cooler? if so, did you remove the 2 tin pieces on back left side of doghouse associated with the cooler? One piece bolts to doghouse and slides thru front firewall shrowd. |

| I removed the bolt from the center of the thermostat. I also removed both pieces of the external cooler cover. How do you remove the rod that connects the thermostat and the veins? |

Spray the thread with a penetrating lubricant and let it sit for a time. Then grab the rod close to the thermostat and unscrew the thermostat. Use Vyse grips to lock in a good hold but take care not to twist to much so the rod breaks.

| Update: I believe it's the thermostat rod that connects to the louvers in the fan shroud that is keeping it from coming off. Undid the bold from the thermostat to the bracket, but didn't understand how the system worked, so had no idea about the connecting rod. Now I know. Thanks for the help. |
