I have an electric fuel pump in a MS EFI scenario.

When I first mounted the pump I had some very weak fuel line and the pump was very obviously cavitating (the line was collapsing). It made a high pitched whine.

I replaced the weak line and the first few times I tried the key the pumped primed the system and it sounded like it should. I took the car for a romp down the road (this is a new build) and it started acting funny, died and I started it again and it limped the two blocks home.

Now when I turn the key and prime the system it sounds normal until the very end and it gives a high pitched whine for a second then shuts off.

I can not feel the line collapsing, seems fine. I have the pump mounted about 4" away from the tank, slightly (but only slightly) downhill from the tank, then about a 10" u shape line into the filter (stock bosch) then into the fuel line to the tunnel. The stock fuel line is acting as the return line for the fuel injection.

Any thoughts?

Remove a fuel line at the engine and run the pump to see if you have good flow.Run the fuel into a clean container and check for dirt.
Check the fuel pressure.
If flow is down or pressure is low, the pump may have to be replaced.

make sure gas tank is vented and check for a kink on fuel line under tank.
