Do you, or someone you know, have a '62 that hasn't been entered in the registry? I'm trying to gauge just how many are actually left!

I'd agree...there's at least four early T3's around Chicago that I know of that don't belong to a club or come here. I talked to one owner at a grocery store last summer who intentionally stays away from the online world and the shows.

Super nice guy-has a 63 Notchback in great condition...I was shocked to see it because 'they don't exist' here.

Another guy one town over has an early Variant (think it's a 63) that's in his garage. It hasn't moved from his garage in 30 years. I stopped and talked with him when I spotted the car.

I think the same concept applies to parts that are available...

Take the number in the registry and multiply it by 10.

I think that would be a better estimate at the number of survivors.

I know of at least 3 '62 notchbacks and about 4 '62 squarebacks that people own and are not interested in either selling, posting online or letting anyone know of their existence.

i get it Confused but id dont... why the fark would you leave something so beautiful & partly rare in a shed for 15-30 years Question

its like the people that have them. wont sell them as they are going to restore them... thats just crap. half of them are left outside & by the time they get around to it or get BORED (i dont have the time or $$$) then the once rare, beautiful car is Stuffed Exclamation
just my 2c

There's a website called carsinbarns.com or something similar that is just a huge collection of rotting stuff that the owners won't part with. You would hate it.

You can't claim to be much of a VW person if you don't know what the samba is (only exception is the old people who never got one of them there comp-you-tators, lolol) and secondly, if you're not active on any forums, registry's, or don't even drive your VW then you are as good as not existing to me. They can piss up a rope for all I care.

Sorry ot go OT for a minute... but this piqued my interest.

Whoever did this to a Mach 1 should have owned a Pinto instead. Mad

Thankfully there's no VW section on the site. Would have had a breakdown.
