| I had this hapened to me after I ty raped open the atompheric damper at the air cleaner to trouble shoot another problen. this reduced the vacuum on the oil breather hose to the oil filler.. I had a messy engine bay to clean up.. |

I'm amazed. but not surprised. Crankcase pressure and oil pressure must be the same in some people's minds. |

People, especially "gear heads", have some very strong opinions about the proper oil to use in their rides. I have seen some REALLY HEATED discussions on other forums, performance cars in particular. Oil weight, viscosity, heat breakdown, lubrication properties - good for pages of posts!  |

Update: Changed out the 20/50 for 10/30 and just did a 50 mi. run on the fwy.....dry as a bone! Looks like guppysoup and others that questioned the use of 20/50 were right. I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference, but it obviously did. I just wonder why the crankcase pressure would increase that much to cause such a serious leak? But what the hey...I'm happy. (now on to my other issues...) |
