About airports, I was at Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands and there where these old pics. Fortunately I had time enough to spot all the VW busses.
OK there is also an Early Bay, but I guess you don't mind.

So, if TWA had them back inthe day, it would have warned you off VW splitties? You'd be Chevy Van Bill instead?

High hinge panel... and a phone booth! Some of you may be wondering what the latter is. A phone what?

Thank you Blue Baron for all the pictures you post in this thread and the others. I've learned so much. _________________ Prosit!

nobody needs to be in there to put the bus in gear and let it idle on loose ground. Used to do this in the dirt. 2nd gear, and let it idle, get out and push it, hop back in when it starts getting traction.... and, yes, i was skinny, too _________________ regards

Skinny was more the norm back then. Back in the fifties and sixties when I was in school there was maybe one or two fat kids in class. |

It's not far from the equator at noon or it's at the equator a little before or after noon in June is my guess. |

Sheesh, correcting myself without knowing where it is it could be anywhere between Tropic of Cancer or Capricorn anytime of the year. Most likely it's Africa, September to March, equator to Capricorn. Wherever it is it's near noon, doh...nevermind me...back to vintage pics |

Nice photo, I think I've seen it before here. Love the Deluxe Bus, but the Boeing 707-331 in the background is the first aircraft that I got qualified on as a new flight attendant for Trans World Airlines way back in June of 1976. That aircraft brings back lots of great memories, and after 40 years I am still flying as a flight attendant, now for American Airlines on much more modern (but not nearly as memorable) aircraft. I only wish that back in my first years of flying that TWA had Split-Bus service vehicles lying about on the ramp.
