Jiminy Christmas- that's fantastic! Top-notch detective work, there.

Great story so far. I'm on the edge on my seat, so to speak. Plus I'm relearning about the space program. Thank you for pursuing this story. I think it has made more than just bus people remember and smile. Smile

Does it even qualify as a vintage photo? I'll try to figure out how to replace the pictures with the higher res ones. If I can't should I post the same pictures again in higher res? Only difference is you can read what is by the owl and most of the chalk or white paint stuff. The rack is pretty rad also.

Still don't know the date, ha. I picture those people connecting to their own kind in the space field. My friend's dad and my dad were deep into space work.

Yes and yes- even a tangential connection to the space program makes the matter historically significant. Plus it's just a cool-as-Hell story.

Not sure if these have been posted somewhere on here before but I ran across them on the internet so...
The only info given was "Nantucket, July 1964"

And then this one I happened upon on a friend of mine's Facebook album. When I asked her about it, she told me that this was her grandparents and their bus. The little girl is her aunt.

Very nice photo. Is that a green bus? Looks new...and no beltline pinstripe. The vents are pinstriped though. "Baujahr" is model year...

Yes, I thought it was a 1956 Sand Green / Palm Green Bus.
I missed the fact that it did not have pinstriping.
I do not see pinstriping on the vents?
The hubcap emblems also look unpainted, although that could be the lighting

Weird...

After looking closer, I don't think the vents are pinstriped. The actual opening of the vent gives the illusion of a pinstripe. At first glance they had a deluxe vent trim kind of look on my monitor.

The hubcaps look unpainted to me also...

Is this a factory photo?

I am not sure of the source but it does look like a typical VW Press Photo

That's cool Clara!

I found this one additional pic that I also listed in the 55-67 Kombi Gallery...These are the only sizes I have.
